I do not know if CCD (Colony Collapse Disorder)is in Europe but it is in Scotland and England, Taiwan and is reported now worldwide. American entomologists on April 24, 2007 bravely published an article on the MAAREC.org website stating the names of pesticides containing neonicotinoids which are known to be highly toxic to bees and other pollinators. Neonicotinoids have been around since the 1990's but only recently perhaps 3 years ago, new neonicotinoids were introduced by Bayer Crop Science specifically these are Admire, Poncho, Gaucho and Provado. These pesticides may be distributed in other countries by other names.
These new neonicotinoids cause bees to have loss of memory, disoriented behavior, weakened immune system and failure to eat which are the symptoms that the bees exhibit in the days before abandoning the hive.
We do not have the luxury of time to debate weather, cell phones and God knows what other speculation. It is called colony collapse disorder because it is known that it is not caused by disease and the bees that can be found dead have died from pathogens resulting from a weakened immune system; that is why it is called the HIV of bees.

this article is full of errors.

recently a large bee organzation looked into the histroy of that Einstien quote and found out from a Albert Eistein Archive that the quote is not his.

also this article is trying to make true to its over the top headline. the bee loss numbers are likely 10-20% of the nations bees. recently the annual almond crop was pollinated with the needed 1.1 million colonies so we are nto anywhere close to the claims being smoked here.

also there are no credible reports of CCD in Europe and if there are undocumented cases the losses quoted there too are way over blown
