Three men face federal charges in connection with a drug ring that used tour buses to move millions of dollars and marijuana between Detroit and Tucson, Ariz. U.S. Attorney Steven Biskupic said authorities seized about $3.7 million in cash from the drug ring in recent weeks. The men — 32-year-old Terrance Lamont Davis, of Tucson, 26-year-old Detroit resident Calvin C. Wiggins and 20-year-old James L. Reaves, also of Detroit — are being held in Tucson. They have been charged with conspiracy to distribute more than 1,000 kilograms of marijuana and could be sentenced to life in prison and ordered to pay millions of dollars in fines if convicted. Authorities in Illinois, Michigan, Arizona and Oklahoma assisted in the bust. A criminal complaint filed in federal court in Milwaukee said the ring used a Chicago-based tour bus company as a front, had two buses and paid people to act as passengers and drivers. Authorities said the buses would travel between Chicago, Detroit, Phoenix and Tucson, picking up and dropping off drugs and money.

Tour Bus Detained In Oklahoma City

Authorities said that a charter bus was confiscated on Thursday in Oklahoma City as part of an undercover investigation that involved officials in Wisconsin. Police said that about 18 people were on the bus when it was stopped at a truck stop near Interstate 40 in western Oklahoma City. Television footage showed several individuals with their hands secured behind their backs with plastic ties, and police dogs sniffing the luggage compartment of the bus. Police Sgt. Paco Balderrama said that the bus was taken to another location so it could be searched further, and other evidence was also seized. He said that the investigation deals with a federal grand jury from out of state. A Drug Enforcement Administration special agent said that the investigation was being led by the U.S. Treasury Department and authorities in Wisconsin.
