Some you may have known about, some maybe you’ve never heard of - nonetheless, all contain ingredients that are toxic to dogs.
Here’s a complete list, excluding common sense items such as alcohol and marijuana.
* Onions/Garlic
o Onions are much more toxic than garlic
o Powdered and cooked onions/garlic are still toxic
o Check labels before feeding dogs ‘human’ foods
o Small amounts of garlic are O.K. and are found in certain dog foods
* Products Containing Caffeine
o Includes all types of chocolate, coffee, tea
o Dark chocolate and cocoa powder are worse than milk chocolate
o Very little needs to be ingested to reach toxic levels
o Known to be fatal in some cases
* Grapes/Raisins
o Are O.K. in very limited amounts
o In high amounts, causes damage to kidneys
* Raw Fish
o If fed in large quantities or regularly, can lead to a significant B vitamin deficiency
* Hops
o For unknown reasons, causes a variety of maladies including seizures and sometimes death
* Multivitamins and Vitamins Intended for People that Contain Iron
o Adversely affects the kidneys, liver and digestive tract
* Macadamia Nuts
o Adversely affects muscles, the nervous system and digestive tract.
* Raw Eggs
o Can negatively affect the normal absorption of B vitamins
o Raw eggs can contain salmonella
* Raw Fish
o If fed regularly or in large amounts, can cause significant B vitamin deficiency
o Known to be fatal in some cases
