The teenager whose family home was wrecked after she advertised a party on the internet has said she is sorry, but still insists it was not her fault. Rachael Bell

Seventeen-year-old Rachael Bell says she is still too scared to face her parents after 200 yobs wrecked their £230,000 luxury home when she advertised her house party on her MySpace internet site.

But the home-alone teen claims the MySpace site was hijacked by louts who invited all-comers to “trash the average sized family house”.

And louts did just that - leaving a trail of devastation and £20,000 worth of damage at the detached house in Chipchase Court, Woodstone Village.

Cash and jewellery was stolen, clothes were wrecked (including the mother’s wedding dress) and light fittings were ripped out of the ceiling.

As the party continued into the early hours police received numerous calls from residents of the well-to-do cul-de-sac in Houghton Le Spring, near Sunderland, about the noise and mayhem, with revellers even clambering into neighbouring gardens.

Afterwards Rachael decided to flee her home and go into hiding.

Still too ashamed to face her mum and dad Rachael said: “I’m really, really sorry about what’s happened.”

“I totally regret it. It was just supposed to be a party with a few friends and it turned into a complete nightmare.

“It was so surreal - it still seems surreal. You just can’t imagine anything like it happening.”

“I absolutely regret everything that happened.”

She said: “Rachael knew that no-one is allowed in the house when we are away and definitely no parties are allowed. It makes me physically sick when I go in the house.

“Rachael has broken my trust and I don’t think I want her back in the house. My other children have been crying and in pieces because of this. All their stuff is ruined.

“My wedding dress that has been hanging up for 20 years with a cover on it to keep it clean has been destroyed. Someone has urinated on it and I think someone has even been wearing it.

“I’m devastated. I can’t eat or sleep or get my mind off it.

“They just disgust me - whoever’s come in here and done this are animals with no respect or thought for anyone.”

But Rachael told of her hell when what was supposed to be a small, friendly gathering turned into a nightmare.

The sixth-form student who studies at Park View Comprehansive School in Chester-le-Street said classmates hacked into her MySpace internet site and invited teenagers from across the country to “trash the average family-sized house” in the quiet suburban street.

“It was just supposed to be a small gathering with about 60 people my friends are DJs and said they’d play,” Rachael said.

“The party wasn’t supposed to start until 10 o’clock, but at half nine we saw people pulling up in cars.

“We didn’t recognise them and didn’t know what was going on so we bolted the door - but they just started climbing through the window.”

She added: “We heard people at school talking about gate-crashing a party, but we didn’t think it would be ours - we didn’t think anyone would want to come.”

Rachael said she had a panic attack after the teens, who came from as far afield as London, started wreaked havoc, trashing the house.

No room was left untouched.

A sign on Rachael’s bedroom stated “bog off boys”, yet condoms were found strewn on the floor.

The bathroom sink was filled with plates, cups and vomit and the shower was full of empty bottles.

The living room floor littered with cigarette ends, ash and empty cans.

There were black marks running up the stairway walls.

In the youngest daughter’s room a mirror was smashed, clothes thrown out of the cupboard and Rachel’s younger brother had his sports clothes covered in dye because “they didn’t like chavs”.

Another room contained dozens of discarded BB gun pellets.

Rachael said while she was upstairs panicking other teenagers downstairs were impersonating her to police, saying everything was fine.

But it was in the cold light of day that the reality of what had happened began to hit home. Rachael said: “In the morning the full extent of what happened just hit me.

“Actually, a lot of people even came back on the morning to help me try and tidy the place up.

“I was going to tidy up after the party - I thought I had a couple of days to clean the house before my parents got back.

“Then the ex-neighbour came and told my mam was on her way home and everyone had better clear out and I left,” she said.

Rachael said she is planning on staying with her friend’s mother indefinitely and is dreading returning to school.

She said: “I’d warn anybody having a party not to put anything on MySpace because the sites can be hacked,” she said.

“I’m just dreading going back to school and what the teachers are going to say.

“I’m frightened that I’ll get kicked out - I’ve got to finish my A Levels.”
