Police Allegedly Attack Homeowner
A Montgomery Village homeowner claims he was just trying to flag down authorities when police confronted and attacked him Monday night.
Rolando Bass said he first encountered the accused Montgomery County police officers when he ran to guide fire fighters to his burning townhouse. That’s when he said one of them accused Bass of setting fire to his home. “One of them got in my face,” according to Bass, “They were like thugs.” As firefighters worked to put the blaze out and made sure his family members were safe, Bass said police laughed and asked if ‘he had been cooking crack up in his room.’
Bass admits he yelled back and used profanity.
“The next thing I know, I’m getting kicked in the face.” Bass said. Montgomery County police have not commented on the incident, since Bass has filed a formal complaint, but do confirm there was an encounter.
“His face was in that dirt, (the police were) punching him,” Rolando’s Grandmother, Ida Bass said.
ABC 7 News has learned that Bass was arrested Tuesday evening on a warrant charging disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, failure to obey the lawful order of a police officer.
