Investigators have found potential evidence in connection with a missing persons case.

In 2005, a then 19-year-old East St. Louis woman disappeared with her then four-year-old cousin.

On Wednesday, officers searched the site in Collinsville where they previously had searched for evidence in the disappearance of Anquiaette “Tweety” Parker and her cousin, Cermen “C.J.” Toney.

Police would not disclose what evidence they were examining.

“We are cautiously optimistic that we have a substantial break in this case,” said Lt. Mark Bramlett, Illinois State Police.

The 19-year-old Parker, who was seven-months pregnant, and “C.J.” had been missing since Nov. 6, 2005.

Police and emergency workers had searched with dogs on foot, from the air and dredged drainage canals throughout State Park Place and Fairmont City.

Authorities said any evidence recovered from the scene would be submitted to the Metro-East Crime Lab for processing.

Parker’s car was found at the Collinsville VFW where a man was seen wiping down the door handles. The blue jean jacket and pink sweat pants she was wearing the day she disappeared had been recovered.

“I just want closure and I knew this day was gonna come and they would be found,” said Greg Parker, Anquiaette’s father.

Daisy Brown, Anquiaette Parker’s grandmother, has said she left Parker and C.J. at home when she left for church that morning, but were gone when she returned that afternoon.
