Spokane County Prosecutors filed first degree murder charges against Shellye Stark Wednesday afternoon in the shooting death of her estranged husband.
According to the charging documents filed against her, it is believed that “Shelly Stark planned and carried out the murder of Dale Stark.”
KXLY4 has learned her motive may have been to protect herself from her past.
Less than two days before the shooting, Shellye Stark got a restraining order against her husband Dale Stark. Shellye claimed she needed protection against her husband because he was violent and she feared for her life.
Shellye appeared in court Monday without make up on, wearing glasses, and a jail jumpsuit. This is a far different image of her than how she portrays herself in her online profile.
On her profile, Shellye Stark used the name nikitajennifer who is portrayed as an escort that charges $300 per hour for sex.
Sources confirmed nikitajennifer is Shellye Stark, and a search of her call girl contact number came back to S. Stark in Spokane.
Spokane Police are investigating if her past profession had anything to do with the murder of her estranged husband.
In the restraining order filed on December 7th, Shellye stated that “Dale is currently harassing me by blackmail, coercion, and extortion for money. He is contacting friends and loved ones. Telling them about my life. Both fact and fiction, as a means of getting money from me.”
The restraining order also included emails from Dale Stark to Shellye Stark sent four days before the shooting.
In one of the e-mails, Dale wrote, ‘You forget I have the e-mails and phone numbers of the guys you saw in Juneau. I don’t want to forward these to Brian or to anyone else.” The e-mail went on to say, “I’ve also saved hundreds of emails, you forget I was the one booking many of your appointments.”
These e-mails also indicate that Shellye agreed to pay her husband $750 a month in child support.
After the shooting on Sunday morning, Shellye Stark told detective she shot Dale Stark five times in self-defense, and that she thought Dale was about to grab a knife. However, police say Shellye had the handgun in her waistband, and the shooting was premeditated murder.
