Her family says that they don’t believe she got proper medical attention.
Annie Kimble is torn apart over the death of her only child, Lavonda.

The 30-year-old mother was pronounced dead early Wednesday morning after spending eight hours at the St. Louis city jail, following her arrest for failing to appear in court for two traffic violations.

Lavonda Kimble suffered from chronic asthma and sickle cell anemia.

Her mother says Lavonda called her and her father complaining of breathing problems and saying corrections officers would not permit her to use an inhaler she had in her purse.

Justice center officials acknowledge during her medical interview upon intake, Kimble told them about both conditions that she suffered from.

They say she complained of no breathing problems and did not have an inhaler.

Stubblefied says Kimble completed just one phone call from a justice center recorded phone line at about 7:00 p.m. to her father.

Stubblefield also says Kimble was given an inhaler at 10:00 p.m., she was moved to the infirmary at about 11:00 p.m., she then stabilized and returned to her cell about midnight.

At 1:05 a.m. she returned to the infirmary.

At 1:38 a.m. an ambulance was called, but it was too late.

Minutes later she was dead.

Preliminary autopsy results are expected in a few days
